it's about celebrity.... the only reason why anyone gives any weight to the ramblings of a sheryl crow or a natalie maines or a rosie o'donnel or a alec baldwin or a barbra streisand or a george clooney or even a has-been celeb like belafonte.....is because they are famous....i'm convinced that what is at work here is a drive (once celebrity is attained) for real relevance, i mean imagine being beamed into classrooms of millions...gotta have something important or relevant to say, right??? and of course they're all saying the same things..... cant remember the author, but someone wrote a book after the dixie chick brouhaha, entitled 'shut up and sing' great title and sentiment, but it ain't gonna happen (hmmm... as i was rattling off my little list of the celeb-cogniscenti ...was doing so in the hope of sparking my memory for a non-lib.... but....i'm sure someone will point out the token non-lib celeb that disproves my point<g>).....
