"How so?"
It could be called "fear mongering" for a politician in the South Seas to campaign for a tsunami warning system, or one in the Midwest to run for office based on building code revisions for tornados. It is a political gambit that uses fear of a potential disaster, even though somewhat unlikely to affect everyone, to garner votes.
But, what we have concerning the "terrorist threat" is being poo-pooed by many, maybe even most, people in this country. To deny that tsunamis, tornados, or terrorists can strike is, to my way of thinking, illogical.
So, when those "fear-mongering" politicians warn of such dangers, and are ignored, they become cassandras. |
