Telco's are brain dead. If they weren't, they'd dominate the ISP industry by now. As such, they do not feel threatened by new technology unless they have to deploy it.

The telco's are in love with low-tech low-bandwidth lines. The lower the bandwidth, the more they can sell. Let's see: one line's for voice, another - for fax, yet another for Internet. 3 * $ = $$$ .
Hey, they might even like the idea of heavy Internet users switching to cable!

IMO, xDSL will follow the lead of ISDN.
