This is what I can't figure out... these guys are car companies, not oil companies. Why not be at the front edge of the wave?

Its odd isn't it? Cars and oil have had this relationship for most of the 20th century. From the outside, it looks like a relationship that most benefits oil and that car companies should not give it a second thought. And yet, its like they are wedded in a bad marriage, with GM refusing to do anything that upsets the apple cart. Its inexplicable.
