There are a whole bunch of American concepts we need to preserve and treasure, self reliance being the most important. There is an ideological linkage between the welfare state and gun control, that being the belief that a person should expect the state to both feed them and protect them. The state should do neither.

And the socialists and their allies who work toward a socialist America know in their hearts that at some point the people will rise up against them so that is really why they desire gun control.

That is one reason I favor long guns as I feel they serve their constitutional purpose better than pistols.
