Hi Jim, All,
Except for WLANs in the enterprise, and a 5,000 to 10,000 ft interest that I've always had in most wireless techs (keeping in mind that I cut my teeth on Ham radio), I haven't any axe to grind at this time, neither financial through investments, nor political, nor technological, nor ideological, when it comes to this subject. In other words, I am in no way vested, either way. In fact, lacking any of the above stimuli I find myself unmoved to form allegiances at all up until now. It's only been recently, after reading some of the arguments presented by Peter, ftth, Rob S and yourself that I've taken a deeper interest and a more discriminating view of the underpinnings of individual technologies and how they are suited to the larger landscape. I've taken all that's been stated here under advisement, and I've also come across additional pros and cons elsewhere, and I'll present some fresh thoughts, maybe some new arguments here (hopefully still largely unbiased by then), as they come to me. In the meantime, I remain indebted to all who've contributed to the discussion thus far.
