Complex operating systems for multitasking and multithreading data synchronization takes 5 years to write and two years to debug(history of Microsoft Vista development). We expect microsoft will have SP1/2 before Vista is perfected.

But they have auto-update and error report to Redmond directly, for improvements without your worrying about your computer. Auto-update can fix the computer by adjusting the shadowed bios to lengthen life of computer components(heat and voltage sensitive).

My WinME and old computer is completely under Redmond control, experimented since 1998. Still supported for multithreading under one core cpu(soft realtime, deterministic by load balancing, 12 threads maximum). Will see if Microsoft can do SOA with packet format conversion thru standard tables for software such as SAP and accounting databases(with express accounting in office suite).

It takes time to perfect and debug software. Human minds are slow on the take. When you open your software for others to modify. The workload to debug will be tremendous. Sunw can sue Microsoft for openJava rights. But who can they sue for monetary losses from open communities hacking on Solaris(nobody has money)? A new proprietary Solaris(new architecture driven by microkernels) has to be ready to replaced the hacked monolithical versions?
