Axion Power International Inc. to expand in Pa. The Associated Press NEW CASTLE, Pa. --Axion Power International Inc., a developer of advanced batteries and energy storage devices, is planning to expand in Lawrence County, bringing at least 86 new jobs to the area. The company recently moved its research and development operations to New Castle from Toronto, Canada. It purchased the assets of the New Castle Battery Co. and agreed to lease its manufacturing facility. Axion Power will create the jobs within three years and retain eight existing positions, Gov. Ed Rendell said in a statement Monday. The company will use the facility to produce a new proprietary energy storage device. centredaily.com
