Yes, that was the article I was referring to. Then in the same issue is an editorial by Burton Malkiel that hints at enormous complacency in the financial markets. Malkiel is a little mealy-mouthed about it, not wanting to look too foolish if the various manias survive for a while longer, perhaps.

Like everyone else, Malkiel says that only a fool would try to time the markets. I wonder how he can say that, having given one of the most perfectly timed and unambiguous calls for a new bull market before it all started in the early 1980s. Maybe he believes in timing bulls but not bears. He can leave that function to Shiller.
