Saddam never attacked the US. His heros were Reagan and Hitler. He became our enemy after he foolishly invaded Kuwait and we kicked him out. Saddam couldn't understand it. He thought the Bush Sr. administration was not going to interfere. Then we put him in a box. While he was a potential threat there was never any concrete evidence he was up to anything nefarious toward us other than the usual, that is corruption and terrorizing his own people. He never had any WMD since 1992 but pretended he did. Now, we have Cheney's people offering to build nuclear plants for Gaddafi. Gaddafi really was a terrorist. But he agreed to an oil deal with Cheney's friends so now they love him. If Saddam had made oil deals with Exxon instead of Elf-Total Bush would be his friend too. Tenet claims Bush-Cheney never even discussed the threat of Saddam in internal meetings. That wasn't even an issue with them. The only issue was how to hoodwink the public and congress into approving their invasion, an invasion that no doubt was all about those oilfields.
