i'm specifically talking about trading on a short term basis, as opposed to investing which has a much longer time horizon.

speaking for myself, the emotional/temperament challenges that present themselves to me on a daily basis are the mountains that have to be climbed. if intellect were all it took to be happy and rich, no doubt i would be retired and living in Belize ;-)

seriously though i do believe there is a huge emotional component for making the most "rational" decisions. try buying a car or house or something that you might consider to be a good investment. which comes first? do you fall in love with the red convertible ragtop and then rationalize for all the reasons why this particular car is the right choice for you? did u purchase a consumers report, and analyze the 'facts'

or have thought about how the wind would feel through your hair, or how good u might look to all of the ladies or gents watching u cruise through downtown?

i don't remember where i read the article but i recall seeing a scientific study where it said 90% of ALL decisions are emotional...i will try to find it.
