Fred Thompson seems like an intelligent, nice guy...but as you and John have said, he has to really want it. Isn't he really the "anti-everybody else" candidate de jour? If he was standing at the podium Thursday with Rudy and McCain and Romney, et al,.....they would take turns whacking him for walking away from public service and then thinking he was contributing more to the world by acting on Law and Order while they were dealing with 9/11 and international terrorism...
