Interesting post Ed. One problem is that our leaders often use fear as a means of control, even irrational fear. I'm waiting for the leader who, on an address on TV, lists the top ten things likely to kill or injure Americans based on real-world events and data.

I'm sure terrorists aren't even in the top ten, probably not even in the top twenty or fifty.

It seems we should all worry more about our and other's health, and a LOT less about terrorists! That Big Mac is more of a threat than bin Laden. Why doesn't our "news" highlight these facts on a regular basis, as a public service, so that Americans would know what they really SHOULD be concerned about?
