The Zionist attribute, in fact, is the least of his attractions. An added problem in the election is that Royal is unconvincing and is untried as a 'professional' politician. Many French are also sick of socialist policies which they feel are ruining the French economy. This will be a very difficult election for France and with very unpredictable outcomes whoever wins.
