They didn't conceal it very well, since on Analysts Day (May 5, 2005) Paul Jacob's referred to the "study as "Nokia funded research" ...

I dont think that the fact that they didnt conceal it well absolves them from the ethical lapse.

If this had actually been an independent study of the respective patent positions of the various companies, I would have given it quite a bit more weight than I do now. As it stands, both studies need to be evaluated along the same lines as corporate presentations....you can get a wealth of facts but you always have to be wary of what might have been left out. Only one of the presentations gave me the courtesy of not having to dig that fact up on my own.
