NVT CEO said (about Tomtom): "We have been assured that the decision to switch to our competitor had nothing to do with the quality of our database or our service." Both TomTom and TeleAtlas are Netherlands companies. And still Tomtom could come back any time, and keeping at least one small competitor alive has some advantages, too. The loss of Tomtom will be more than compensated by new business brought by Hyndai/Kia, BMW, and Medion from Europe. The challenge by TeleAtlas is like AMD against Intel and Novell against Microsoft.
