The specialty DRAM market appears to be doing well!
-----------------------------------------------
From CEO of Elpida Memory Inc.:
"Next, the mobile DRAM business, it has started to grow very well since March. January and February were not so good. I suspect April could post record sales or even record profits. Now the remaining one, digital consumer DRAM, is also on the rising trend. Especially single-lens-reflex cameras are doing quite well. Almost all the makers are plainning to mount 1Gigabit on these new products. In the 3rd quarter, 1Gigabit equipped digital cameras will be launched. Both mobile and digital cconsumer businesses are therefore in very good shape."

For Winbond, a Taiwanese memory company:

"In the memory segment, Winbond said demand for mobile RAM has gradually recovered during the first quarter. Also, the shipment of specialty DRAM has achieved significant growth with a majority of growth in the high density products. Nonetheless, the slight decrease in overall revenue was influenced by the falling price of commodity DRAM."

From recent Qimonda earnings CC:
Design wins for consumer products have picked up for digital TV's, set top boxes, GPS systems, and digital cameras. These design wins include tier one customers. The company is gaining traction in mobile applications. The ramp-up of CellularRAM has started with Spansion being a customer. Qimonda expects GDDR5 samples to be ready by end of calendar 2007.

The one remaining in the dumps is Computer DRAM.
