I use to think the commissions for Canadian stocks use to be pretty good. But recently I noticed I've been charged around 0.5% commission for Canadian trades. This works out to 1% for a round trip trade. Tolerable but not that cheap.

But what gets me boiling is that I got charged this week 3.5% for a sell of QEE on the Amex. For selling 124,000 shares at 17 cents, the commission was a mind boggling $771 !

TD Ameritrade only charges $10 per trade, so why should I use IB for low priced U.S. stocks.

For Canadian stocks, IB is probably still OK, but I am starting to have my doubts.
