I don't mean to sound like I just fell off the turnip truck, but regarding student loans, i thought they were fixed rate, low interest, and no requirement to pay until after graduation (that is if the student takes the loan out). Congress has really let the regular folks down imho. Credit card companies can bump your rate to exorbitant rates if you miss a payment or are late more than once. We had one of those and paid it off right away.
