If They REALLY want to play that silly game, it can be played tight back at the. So the wife's unskilled, untrained labor is worth $138K a year? Well, commonly the husband changes oil in the cars, does minor and sometimes more major repair work on them (auto mechanic), fix plumbing problems (plumber), does minor electrical work (electrician), often does all or part of more major house repairs and remodellings (general contractor and all specialized trades working under him). Plus innumerable other useful things in and around the house and for the family. Let's say he brings in a $50K - $150k paycheck. It's reasonable to impute equal value to his labors. So he's putting out $100k -$300K towards the support of his family. The wife's contribution doesn't look so great any more, does it?

I suggest the counselor not get into a battle of the sexes. She's going to lose the case.
