But Humvees and body armor are not analogous to missiles....in fact, they have little to do with missiles.

Defensive missiles, are very analogous to armor. They are both defensive. The analogy is a good one. BTW even if it wasn't it wouldn't be a strawman. It would be a bad analogy, and you might consider it a "red herring". A strawman is when I make a false version of your argument, and then demolish it. I wasn't presenting the analogy as your argument.

In fact to the extent the analogy falls short, it falls short because they are more purely defensive. Armor actually tilts the advantage to the attacker. Its physically defensive, but tactically it helps you to move and attack rather then get pinned down by the enemies firepower. Machine guns (which are physically offensive) are tactically defensive. When they where brought out in large numbers in WWI they bogged down attacks, and helped create years of fairly static trench warfare (punctuated by occasional very bloody offensive efforts that usually achieved very little). The introduction of the tank helped give offensive efforts more of a chance, because the armor could protect the crew from machine guns.

We have enough missiles period.

That's a very silly statement. Missiles aren't one thing where you can reach a number that is enough. You can have ten thousand times the total number you might need, and still not have enough of certain types. Your argument is like saying that a shortage of cardiologists or gerontoligists because we have too many pediatricians.
