I live in North Carolina and thought a game in my dining room was getting busted when police showed up at midnight. Luckily I had the curtains closed; the police said there were complaints about my guests parking in the wrong place. No problem. They moved their cars.

But what I am writing about is to ask for tips on the Derby. I meant to ask earlier in the week. Maybe you are not following it this year?

This morning I went short (puts on FXI) the Shanghai stock market, which has quadrupled in less than two years. The market is ending a week-long holiday next Monday. FXI is up today last time I looked. People who buy an ETF for China during a seven-day break are a teeny bit confident, don't you think?

Uranium starts trading on the Nymex on Monday. Or rather, paper certificates based on the price of uranium. I won't be trading those, but I am bullish on uranium even though it's been wilder on the upside than Shanghai.
