Yousef, re: AMD is about 1/2 a generation behind at the .35um node and will probably fall further behind at .25um..

How do you define generation? Maybe you recall this exchange?

I have contended all along that AMD's process technology is at least 1-2 years behind Intel. This can be seen by AMD's longer gate lengths and higher supply voltage for a given process generation...

<about 1/2 a generation> is a lot less than <at least 1-2 years>

Seems like AMD is getting closer.

Intel has not released the Pentium II in 0.25 um yet and AMD has not released the K6+ in 0.25 um. Seems to me you refused a wager as to which one might be first.

Seems like AMD is getting closer.

And BTW, it takes more than good chip fabrication to be the technology leader. The only reason Pentium II is faster than Pentium PRO is clock speed, i.e., chip fabrication. A Pentium PRO 200 actually performs as well as a Pentium II 233 running Windows NT (and probably WIN98)!
