5/4/07 Update
The week was pretty much a wash for the Nasdaq Biotech Index, which closed Friday up 6.87% YTD (vs. up 6.91% YTD a week ago). However, the bears did take a little nip off of the Contest portfolios, with the Contest median finishing the week up 7.13% YTD (vs. up 9.44% YTD a week ago). At week's end, 20 of the 31 Contest portfolios were in the black with 16 of the 31 still beating the NBI.
It was a weeklong furious battle between the COR and DNDN teams for the contest lead. In the end, DNDN rider PGONEIL wound up with the Yellow Jersey, with his portfolio now up 34.9% YTD. But a COR team triplet is just a few spoke lengths behind and next week's heat could go either way.
Portfolio adjustments: In my own portfolio, Inex (IEX.TO) changed its name to Tekmira and its Yahoo symbol is now TKM.TO. There was also a 1-2 reverse split of the stock. In addition, as part of its reorganization, the company distributed shares in a separate non-publicly traded company set up for the transfer of its accumulated tax losses. I adjusted my portfolio for the reverse split, name & symbol changes, but for the time being have assigned zero value to the non-publicly traded company shares.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
