**The rich aren't paying their fair share of taxes; hence we have a huge deficit. You don't need even one degree to figure that one out. Year after year, the federal budget is not balanced.....not by a few dollars but by billions. It would seem someone is not paying their fair share........since the the wealth of the billionaires in this country is growing by leaps and bounds, and American corporations are making money hand over fist, I think we know who the guilty parties are.
The question remains why do middle class individuals like yourself feel the need to defend the rich?

A higher unemployment rate is better in Europe only because the unemployed are guaranteed an income for two years unlike the six months here. They don't end up on the street like they do in this country. Hence, Europe does not have the homeless problem that the US does.

I don't think Exxon is gouging; I do think MSFT is gouging. However, Exxon has a much greater impact on the well being of the American public than MSFT.
