Do your best to avoid having a resident do your surgery.
i did, that is have a resident do what i did not realize was a complex procedure.
i then, following getting butchered, went thru three LONG surgeries over a one year period done by the number one ranked surgeon in the world for the operation that the resident
"roughed me up"(that is exactly what my future surgeon said "You have been roughed-up pretty badly").
The great surgeon was repairing destructive damage done by the resident and having to deal with the original problem, which was a life and death problem.
All three oprations lasted between 6 and 10 hours, and all involved significant loss of blood.
i remind none of these surgeries were voluntary, it was life or death, that simple.
An example of how great the surgeon that worked to put me back together.
This was 1981 into 1983.
i had to have 6months between operations to both have intial healing and replace my blood supply.
Words that sounded mysterious at the time as to why i was not given blood transfusions:
He , Dr.James Snow, then head of the department of Otolaryngology at H.U.P., said "He does all in can to have odds in his patients favor. Ordinarily i would be giving you a post-op blood tranfusion but i have been receiving disturbing data that certain quanities of blood supply have been contaminated by an unknown disease organism that we can not test for, so i now have the policy of not transfusing unless a matter of life and death." The disturbing data was of course AIDS, and he was on top it, post haste.

NEVER select a surgeon because he has a neat personality, for while his personality might be neat, he could otherwise also be incompetent.

Also being a survivor of a malignant melanoma, i give the hard facts, if you don't identify the MM in time, you have a 90% chance you will die, and not uncommonly within weeks.
If you have a malignant melanoma any one that suggest an option other that surgery, should be shot .
Fanatic Herbalist are as dangerous as a grossly incompetent surgeons.
Any person that would say, well you have a Breslow 2.5mm malignant melanoma, don't have yourself disfigured, use this potion , it will do the job.
Any one giving such advice as that is committing MURDER and committing it via criminal gross incompetence. Max
