Hi Rich, you're right and I'm not sure what to make of today's press release. After reading the full context they give a reasonable explanation but logic tells me if the upcoming results were knock dead tremenodous why would genentech let go of the product. I do agree that Rituxin is the focal point and all efforts should be directed behind Rituxin, however genentech is more then capable of handling both products if they truely thought the return on investment was attractive. That being said, I still believe Y2B8 will have positive results to show at December's ASH conference. I certainly could be wrong in my speculation but reading between the lines in today's release such as the mentioning that the abstracts were submitted to ASH{ my intuition tells me that if the abstracts were negative this would not be mentioned}. Maybe, the results were positive but not as strong as Coulter's product and this might have had a factor in Genentech's decision. Or maybe the press release was telling it like it really is and Genentech is focusing 100% behind Rituxin and the additional effort to promote Y2B8 did not make economic sence when compared to rituxin. If this truely is the case then this is clearly beneficial for Idec. As you can see I am confused and have not talked to Idec but will let you know if I get any better insight.
