"<g> Oh, not if he reduces government, but somehow he gave me the impression he would do away with government almost altogether... that's just the impression I received from him... at this point, it doesn't have to be logical, it's just an initial impression..."
All he did was point out the impossibility of EVER eliminating the government deficit (& the steady devaluation of the dollar, the 'inflation tax' politicians love the most because they never have to record a vote for it...) so long as the government *SPENDS* like it does.
I agree with him, but it is an EXTREMELY Inconvenient Truth that Big Government politicians never like to hear.
"The sense I had was that he would say women's rights were not the "original intent."
Women's rights WERE and ARE the 'original intent' ever since the US Constitution was properly & legally AMENDED to make them so. So, in this case, that *is* the 'original intent'.
That was the same point Paul was trying to make when the Congress was first debating whether to give Bush authority to decide whether to start hostilities with Saddam --- when Paul made his speech saying, in effect: "If you want to go to war, then DECLARE WAR, and then fight it to win."
But no more wishy/washy, extra-constitutional shirking of their responsibilities by Congress, and no silly bleating about the U.N. |
