Wake up and smell the gunpowder, Euterpe. They've made their aims clear enough.

"We will bury you." ... Khrushchev

That's pretty clear enough and he had the means to do it.

What puzzles me is why you people insist on giving your perceived enemy "opportunities". Afghanistan was under a Communist rule ... no forced conversions to Islam and then we help get the Taleban in power. Brilliant!

Then we got this dictator, Saddam, not forcing conversions to Islam boxed in and pretty much under control and we decide to make a regime change and give the fundamentalists an opportunity there.

I have no doubt that you want to give them another opportunity by trying a regime change in Iran.

Brilliant!

If you conservatives would just stop helping AQ it would be lot better.

Besides, Bush has lowered the bar. Iraq as a model of democracy is out. "Success" is an acceptable level of violence. Forget about the silly GWOT, it's an acceptable level of violence as the goal. And that's vague enough to have it higher than under Saddam.
