Many of the so-called research studies on echinacea are based on giving it to someone after they have a cold, which I believe is fallacious. I think it works best if you take it at intervals so it builds up before you are exposed. Of course it's hard to prove something based on the fact that a person never got sick. Easier to try and prove based on symptoms after the fact, but I really don't think it works that way. Just my opinion, based on experience and information from American Indians who have used it for millenia.
