There was indeed a ruling or law passed that you could not film such things in France. I'm not sure how ignoring something bad will do any good

Think of the number of dollars involved in tourism in france. Would you want to send you grade 10 child to a country with rioting Muslim youths, or any other form of youthful rioting? If they don't film it half the civilized world thinks it cannot be too bad. And School kids from Canada, the US and every where else go to learn French and immerse themselves in a culture of failure every year. No tourists for a couple of years would break France.
