Take a look at the longer term chart for ADBE, as I've mentioned before. Higher Lows and higher highs within this consolidative phase. Selling at 52 was based on achieving another new high, combined with too much uncertainty about hitting Street estimates for the next two quarters. 1998 is a backloaded year by management's admission so why not take profits on a trading band stock which gets punsished for the slightest shortfall, when uncertainty is this high?
Long term, the buyback is a great thing and will help ADBE reach historical highs. I just don't see it happening for another year or so...
