Dear Petz:

I don't get it. AM2+ is not a server socket, is it? So why should HT3 make much difference on a desktop part? Fusion motherboards?

The biggie is the ability to split the single 16/16 HT link into two 8/8 HT links. Now consider one be upgraded to be able to be a cHT link. Boom, Torrenza desktops and cheap dual socket MBs. The upgrade in clock allowing a 8/8 HT 3.0 link to have more BW than a 16/16 HT 2.0 link.

Pete
