you have the need to decide for yourself what is truth as opposed to His Word? you think MY words are better then James by the influence of the Holy Spirit? Surely that is not what you mean......
simply stated, public prayer is nothing more than grandstanding...
then either God is a liar ...or you are....I will let you decide what you wish to believe there. I did what I was supposed to do, I showed you truth from His Word and if you choose not to believe it...I am sorry.
BTW, Did you notice the libbers jumping on your bandwagon?
But, you still didn't answer my question, what does it matter whether one prays or not
uhhh...maybe because we are told to do that very thing?
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not put out the Spirit's fire
and why should that be any kind of criteria for a Presidential candidate?
here is part of what I told John C.:
<<A. Using God and the Israelites as a beginning, since God was both ruler and king was God not the ultimate authority of the "government" of the Israelites? Seems ever since human government should be within that framework of God's will. Does that mean that God "zaps" a figure into the White House...no, but look again at how the Apostles trusted God in everything. Remember when Judas killed himself and the apostles had to choose a new apostle to take his place? (Acts 1: 15-26 esp vs 24 and 26.) They prayed and then they casted the lots, they trusted that God would show the right answer, and the lot fell to Matthias..
B. Paul, by the leading of the Holy Spirit penned this:
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God's servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.(Romans 13)
look at the rulers that were over the Christians at the times of these writings...not the best of times I should say, eh? Yet, I feel God had a reason for each one of them.
C. God DOES say that he comes to live IN us IF we are called his, in the person of the Holy Spirit. Is that not a 24/7 position? So why would he bow out of an election?
D. In the NIV, pray and prayer are mentioned over 100 times just in the New Testament....I would have a hard time believing that prayer is so important that I would NOT pray for guidance about who would lead us too.
well, I could go on, but I think that is enough |
