I totally agree on your point on acceptance. However, Microsoft has sold at least 4 copies of Microsoft Office, and at least 4 copies of Microsoft Works, just for me, and I only use one copy on one computer, today. I guess I have downloaded OpenOffice.org 5-10 times, and I currently have it running on 3 computers, on which I actually use it. In other words, both methods can be very misleading on the actual acceptance.

I haven't tried MS Office 2007, yet, but compared with Office 2003, OpenOffice.org has functionality that is good to have when doing Office work, but which is hard to use in MS Office 2003. I can mention these, where Office 2003 doesn't help me a lot:

- Copy & paste of HTML tables to spreadsheet (like copying bank account info to a spreadsheet)
- Copy & paste of comma, tab and semicolon separated data to spreadsheets
- Multi-language spellchecking (I think you can get that by purchasing more stuff for MS Office, but I really don't know)
- Producing PDF files

I don't use Office apps a lot in my normal work day, so there are probably more features to such a list, but the point is, that there are actually things you would like to do, where the easiest solution is to download OpenOffice.org and use that.
