The intent of that little speech was to shock through blatant exaggeration. Greed in the US is much more subtle; its hidden behind stock options, golden parachutes, special bonuses etc....whatever economic slight of hand can be employed that can be covered legally or illegally by some accounting procedure. The Gordon Gekkos are easy to spot; its the ones not so visible who are the real problem. |
