My main point is that one must evaluate a switchover to Open Office (or WordPerfect, WordStar or whatever) as any other tool replacement exercise:
- consider all costs, including salvage, retraining, etc.
- consider value of time and effort saved (will require a careful study of features used and desired)
- discount the costs of workarounds and savings
- make a go/no-go decision

Or, if you don't have a manager who will demand justification, lucky you ;-)

In either case, the analysis is going to vary from case to case. BTW, what kind of car do you drive?

For all your technical woes, I am sure you can find more competent answers than these:
- copy-paste HTML tables - can do with MS
- copy paste CSV tables to spreadsheets - can do with MS
- multi-language spell checker? Haven't seen that one yet.
- PDF writing - download a free PDF writer. Microsoft is not likely to bundle an Acrobrat anytime soon.

regards
