The USD is due for a technical bounce here, since 80 is the
last support level. Once 80 is broken, I am not sure how
rapid the decline might be, but 40 could be a possibility.
I expect some "toughness" from
the Fed today. Despite all their appeals to Japan and China,
I don't think they want a dollar crisis. The only tool
they have to stop it is raising the interest rates. They don't
have any reserves, except gold reserves. And, the carry
trade is pretty overcrowded already. Unfortunately, given
that most numbers coming from the government today are lies,
and the hyperinflation similarities, I see a possibility that
the dollar goes into severe tailspin and never recovers.
