DALLAS — Seeking to stay one step ahead of Infineon Technologies AG and others, Texas Instruments Inc. here outlined its single-chip cell-phone roadmap, tipping a new 65-nm product line.
For some time, TI (Dallas) has been shipping LoCosto, a single-chip cell-phone product, based on a 90-nm process. The GSM product is aimed for the exploding ultra low-cost mobile phone market.

The company is developing a 65-nm version of LoCosto. The product is in the fab, with shipments due ''very shortly,'' according to the company.

Another version, eCosto, is sampling this quarter. The first product in the new eCosto platform will be the OMAPV1035 single-chip solution, which will be manufactured in a 65-nm process and will support GSM, GPRS and EDGE standards.

TI's competitor in the arena is Infineon and other

Unfortunately WCDMA is where the growth is not GSM. But they need a license from the Q.
