Bush is putting in ADDITIONAL PERMAMENT forces. He has no intention of withdrawing. He has already said so...in public.

He will not be the President who removes the forces. He has said that and will stick with it. It would be too pathetic for him to start and end this war. That is why the Dems have to back him up against a wall or live with this many troops there until well into 2009.

Since pundits opined that the US military will be out of fresh troops by August of this year....I don't know how this works out in practical terms.

Does anyone see Bush making a herculean effort to hold peace and reconciliation talks with the warring parties?

No?

Gee.

Maybe Syria, Iran, Jordan et al will become so worried about a failed state that they will step in and do what Bush can't do.
