That's exactly what I mean. The Republican party can place blame on the heads of individuals...the errant Bush administration that is more interested in oil and military contract profits than anything to do with God.

Bush and Cheney are so personally unpopular that they could be jettisoned without much ado. Bush has been running around as some kind of evangelical wasp but he doesn't even attend church regularly and Cheney's role as Satan is pretty dang convincing.

If the GOP would simply jettison these losers and their failures: Katrina, Iraq, national debt, trade deficit, outsourcing, the dollar, Medicare, etc. then they could just pick a messianic nutball of their own choosing. I'm guessing it will not be Romney but, heck, maybe it will be that other nitwit Newt.

They're pushing hard for lazy Fred Thompson so maybe he's there outside guy.

At any rate, I don't see why they just don't throw out the bathwater now that it is this stinky. Personally, I'm hoping that they will not because it will be much better for progressives and, therefore, much better for the country.
