I am not defending De gaull.i just want to point out that ,while anti american, he was not a communiste. He also developed an independant nuclear forse (forse de frappe)aimed at moscow but not counted as nato missles.....so how bad a guy could he be?g "By intentionally weakening that alliance, Charlie helped Nikita." What sort of argument is that??????????? Do you really think that helping nikita was the reason france withdrew?
