The total Violent Crime Rate is 26% higher in the restrictive states (798.3 per 100,000 pop.) than in the less restrictive states (631.6 per 100,000).
The Homicide Rate is 49% higher in the restrictive states (10.1 per 100,000) than in the states with less restrictive CCW laws (6.8 per 100,000).
The Robbery Rate is 58% higher in the restrictive states (289.7 per 100,000) than in the less restrictive states (183.1 per 100,000).
Oh hell Tim, I don't mind explaining my position but when you post something with 'facts', I would appreciate if you would preview it to be sure the facts make sense. I shouldn't have to explain to you.
Regarding the statistics above, first we don't know which state is what. Is one of the restrictive states CA and a less restrictive state Idaho? Well if that were the case, then the comparison is completely bogus........of course the homicide rate will be higher in CA even with stricter gun control laws if for no other reason that CA has many larger, more crime ridden urban areas than Idaho. Furthermore, there are many more poor in CA and its cities are riddled with gangs. Finally, the larger the city and the state, the easier to smuggle guns in from less restrictive, neighboring states.
Secondly, we have no idea what weapons were used in the homicides......knives, guns, strangulation with a cord....what?There are so many reasons why the weapons used is important to this analysis. I'll let you figure what they are. |
