Well, Rudy's position on abortion is understandable considerig his past stance. He has built his current campaign on the issues you mentioned, so I think it is wise for him to just get this statement out there and let the chips fall. It won't hurt him with his existing base, and may win a few..but the social conservatives will certainly now take full aim at him at every chance!
