Thanks for sharing that with us. As I was reading that article i couldn't help but think there may be a new healthcare professional field............that of the patient advocate. All of us that have been with sick family members know that it always helps for a third, objective party to be present with someone while they are going through stressful and serious health related problems. I do this for my family members...........some Dr's don't like it but most are receptive. A cancer patient I knew once had a good physician who had terrible communication skills ( frankly he was a dick ). She brought a list of questions with her to an appointment cause she had trouble remembering everything during her visits. When he saw the list he told her he didn't like lists. he also told her to hurry because he had a dentist appointment. She said to him, " I am a cancer patient and I thought I had an appointment now with a Dr. " He was never short with her again. :>)
