Vendors make money out of selling BTS. Mobile handsets were a business on the side. As you have seen they threw them over board at the first opportunity. Only Nokia seems to be the throughbred mobile handset maker.

Maybe they didn't want to design, manufacture, market and take the risks just to help the operators and to give royalties money to QCOM.

Now we are approaching the end of the deployment. Only the very fringes need a network (Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, North Africa, Middle East).

These last ones will end in about 5 years. Then there will be no more countries that need a mobile network. All of them will have a minimum of two of them.

But life goes on I wonder into what this is going to turn.

I'm going on short holiday to the US. Going to DC, then take daughter to Disney Orlando0, FLA. No stopover in NY.
