1. Operate by a system. Take note of it when you deviate from your system. Review your system at least quarterly. dabum - I almost exclusively play the resource stocks. At times I feel I am missing huge opportunities in other areas of the market. I usually realize I do not understand the other areas of the market so I hopefully am able to let them go. The one thing about resources is there are always discovery plays that are minimally dependent on the commodity price. The key is to dig and find the plays with trigger events that can move the price. I find little reason to play stocks without definable trigger events.
