I've probably posted this before but your mother passing brought it to mind. My father died in December in 1983, a week later my mother had a stroke and went to a nursing home. We moved her stuff to my house.

She had a sensitive plant for 20 years and the thing never bloomed and we stuck in the master half bath. 2am in March I get a call that my mother had died, wife went into the bathroom and the plant was in full bloom. Next morning that plant was deader than my hopes and dreams.
