Deficit Watch, May 2007

Any time now, the overwhelming importance of economic growth should be working its way into the so-called "fiscal responsibility" debate, ending the false-dilemma we’ve been saddled with for so long. At last, it would become a three-way debate: “raise taxes” versus “cut spending” versus “grow the economy.”

I’m keeping track of the ideas coming from both sides of the presidential race regarding “growing the economy.” So far, just a few Republicans are the only ones who seem to think it deserves a spot on the talking points list. I expect the Democrats to wake up sometime soon, however, now that the evidence is near-undeniable.
