Why not?
I mean... if they become busily engaged FIGHTING EACH OTHER for the next generation or so, and we are no longer encamped on their soil occupying their lands, or futilely attempting to keep the partisans of their many-sided civil war apart....
Why wouldn't that benefit us?
Of course, anyone foolish enough to attack us should get stomped on, and hard... but, why should we look a gift horse in the mouth when it favors our interests if they turn inward and fight amongst themselves over a centuries old, yet still unresolved, schism within their religion?
CERTAINLY, (since what we *choose to do*, or *not to do* is always a choice among policies, comparing and contrasting the risk/reward potentials among them all), I HIGHLY DOUBT that remaining as occupiers in Iraq, or pouring an additional TRILLION down the drain, is more likely to produce benefits for us then the reverse is! |
